TYPE: Guatemala. Dept. Chimaltenango, Santa Elena. Terrestrial on moss-covered ground beneath young cypress trees, rooted very shallowly among decaying litter. 9700 ft. alt. Flowers deep maroon, column green. 18 Jul 1933, Alexander F. Skutch 448 (holotype, AMES; isotype, US; illustration of type).
